Also, if you enabled Send as SMS on your iPhone, the blocked iMessages will get delivered to your phone in form of sms text messages.
This is very essential to the topic on if i unblock someone on imessage what happens.
Will I be able to receive the blocked messages or probably not?
I tell you from my observation and the test I did, you will receive the blocked iMessages once you unblocked the person on your iPhone. But, it will get delivered to your phone as an SMS text message.
It won’t get delivered as iMessages because the messages were blocked, but rather get sent to your phone as sms texts.
But before that will happen, the sender must have send as sms and airtime or texting plan on his or her iPhone.

What will happen after unblocking
There are two things I will emphasize on and they are;
- When Send as sms (when imessage is unavailable) is enabled on an iPhone.
- When send as sms is not enabled on an iPhone.
1.1. When send as sms is enabled on an iPhone
If Send as SMS is enabled on the sender’s iPhone when you blocked the sender on your iPhone, if you later unblocked the sender you will receive the blocked messages.
However, the won’t get delivered to your phone as iMessages but rather it will delivered to your phone as Sms text messages.
This will only occur if the sender;
- Enabled send as sms on his or her iPhone.
- Has a sim card or eSim in his phone.
- Has a cellular network service on his phone.
- Has a texting plan or an airtime.
If these features are enabled, available and active on the sender’s iPhone, immediately you unblocked the sender on your iPhone, all the blocked messages will get delivered to your iPhone in form of sms text messages.
When send as sms is enabled but sender has no texting plan or airtime: In a situation whereby the sender has no texting plan or airtime on his phone, the messages won’t get delivered to your phone after unblocking the sender.
The messages have a space of 72 hours to get delivered to your phone but only if the sender will purchase a texting plan or subscribe to an airtime.
After 72 hours has passed, the text messages will no longer get delivered to your phone even if the sender has now has a texting plan or airtime balance on his iPhone.
1.2. When send as sms is not enabled on an iPhone
So in a situation where the sender turned off Send as SMS on his iPhone prior to you unblocking the sender, I’m sorry the messages won’t get delivered to you.
So I ran a test by turning off send as sms just to see if I will receive the messages after unblocking.
Lo and behold that never happened.
Even when I enabled send as sms afterwards, still I didn’t receive the blocked messages on my iPhone.
In this type of situation, the only option you have is to request or ask the sender to resend the blocked messages back to you phone.
Talking about if i unblock someone on imessage what happens, kindly note that the person will now be able to send both sms text messages and iMessages to your iPhone.

Let me explain what blocking someone on iPhone entails.
Blocking someone on iPhone
When it comes to blocking someone on iPhone, it is quite different on Android phone.
For example, if you block someone on iMessage, you have automatically blocked the person on your entire smartphone.
This means that the person won’t be able to call you on cellular calls, facetime calls, send sms messages and iMessages to your phone.
Like I said, it is quite different on android.
On android, if you block someone on the Messages App, the blocked person will still be able call your number on cellular calls.
This is from my experience on a samsung galaxy phone.
I haven’t tested other android brands as to ascertain if this is only applicable to Samsung phones or all Android phones.
So once you block someone on iMessage, you have entirely blocked the person on your iPhone.
But Remember;
Blocking someone on iPhone is valid on that particular phone you used to block the person. If you go ahead and switch your sim card to another phone, the blocked number will be able to send messages and call to your new phone.
For Example.
You are using iPhone 12 Pro Max and which you blocked Tony on your iPhone.
After few months, you bought a brand new iPhone 14 pro max and which you switched your sim card, apple id, etc from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the new iPhone 14 pro max.
Immediately you switched your sim card, Apple id and phone number to the new iPhone 14 pro max, Tony will be able to send messages to you, and as well as call your number.
In this type of situation what you have to do is to block Tony on your new iPhone 14 pro max and Tony won’t be able to reach out to you on your new phone.
Kindly note that blocking someone on iPhone or android phone doesn’t have anything to do with the network carrier, but rather the phone only.
This is why whenever you switch sim cards, the blocked number will be able to contact you and this is applied to both android and iPhone.
When you unblock someone on iPhone, do messages come through?
The straight answer is yes. The messages will come through but only if send as sms is enabled and which the message will be sent as sms text messages.
Right on your screen you will see green text messages instead of blue which indicates iMessages.
Remember, this will happen if the sender enabled send as sms on his iPhone, and which he has a texting plan or an airtime.
Never expect to receive the messages as iMessage as that will never happen.
How to get messages after unblocking someone
The only way to get messages after unblocking someone on your phone is when the sender has the option of send as sms enabled on hie iPhone.
Like I said, once send as sms is enabled, definitely you will receive the messages as sms text messages as long as there is an active texting plan or airtime in the sender’s phone.
Another method is to request or ask the sender to resend the blocked messages to your phone.
These are the two ways to to get messages after unblocking someone on your phone.
Do you get messages after you unblock someone? The answer is yes. But it depends on the type of phone you’re using.
How long does it take to unblock someone on iPhone?
It doesn’t take long to unblock someone on iPhone as long as you tapped on the unblock button.
Once you tapped on the unblocked button, you have immediately unblocked the person on your iPhone.
It won’t take a second or more than a second to unblock someone on iPhone.
If I unblock someone on iPhone will they know?
They might know though they won’t be notified about the unblocking.
However, it you block someone on your phone, the person might not neccesarily care if you later unblocked him or her. Because of this, the person won’t know about the unblocking.
In some cases, the person might delete your phone number or even block your number as well.
And this is where I come to the conclusion of the question of the day, if i unblock someone on imessage what happens.
