Let’s proceed.

If you send iMessage to a recipient on your iPhone and you saw that the sent iMessage wasn’t delivered to the recipient as it didn’t show delivered below the sent iMessage, all you have to do is to press hold on the sent iMessage.

Also you can chose to iMessage not delivered by turning off your Wi-Fi or cellular data while sending the iMessage. This will prevent the iMessage from getting delivered to the recipient as iMessage requires internet connection.

Once you have done that you will be presented with lots of options including Send as Text Message.

Remember that this is only applicable to phone number linked or activated with iMessage.

If the phone number is not activated with iMessage probably an android phone user or a feature phone user, you don’t need to bother yourself with the Send as sms when imessage is unavailable button. Second Method

However, if you’re main concern is that you don’t want to send iMessages on your iPhone or at that very moment as you prefer to send sms text, then this is what you need to do.

The second method requires you to entirely turn off iMessage on your iPhone.

By turning off iMessage on your iPhone means that you deactivated your phone number and as well as your Apple ID from iMessage. This means that any text message you sent on your iPhone will be green sms text message.

If you want to do so;

Get started by opening the settings app, scroll down to Messages and open it.

Right there you will see iMessage and whicg is turned on by default. Now you have to turn off iMessage by sliding back the button and it will turn from a green button to a Grey or white button as shown on the picture below.

Turn off iMessage

Once iMessage is disabled on your iPhone, you will start to send sms text messages instead of iMessages on your iPhone.

Note that if you disable iMessage on your iPhone, you won’t be able to receive iMessages as well. So before you go ahead to disable iMessage on your iPhone be sure that you don’t care about your friends and family iMessages.

By disabling iMessage on your iPhone is another method to switch from imessage to text on your iPhone. But if you ask me, the first method is the best as I don’t see the reason why you would want to disable iMessage on your iPhone.

Honestly, it doesn’t make sense at all.

Why did my text messages turn from Blue to green on liPhone?

For a text message to turn from blue to green on iPhone usually occur if the phone number is no longer activated with iMessage.

For example, you have been sending and receiving iMessages from a contact with the name Charles and suddenly sending iMessages to Charles with turn green.

Why did the iMessage turn green?

This will be your question.

The answer is very simple and clear. The reason why iMessage suddenly turn green when sending iMessages to Charles is because Charles turned off iMessage on it’s iPhone. Once iMessage is turned off or disabled, that means the phone number and Apple ID connected with iMessage will be removed.

However, it may not be the fact that Charles turned off iMessage on it’s iPhone but rather Charles is using another phone number for his iMessage. All you have to do is to contact Charles through sms text message or phone call and request for his iMessage phone number or even apple id.

Send as text message not showing

Send as text message will not show if the send as sms is disabled or the iMessage has already been delivered to the recipient.

To send as text message when iMessage is unavailable,

  • Kindly open the settings app and scroll down to Messages.
  • Open messages, scroll down and you will see Send as sms (when imessage is unavailable).
  • Please make sure the button is turned on and which will be green in color.

Once Send as SMS is enabled on your iPhone you will see the option on iMessage. But remember that it will be available if a sent iMessage is not delivered to the recipient.

So you can turn off your internet when sending iMessages on your iPhone and this will in turn prevent the iMessage from getting delivered. Afterwards you can send the message as an sms text message.

How do I change iMessage to text for one contact?

To change iMessage to text for one contact, enable send as sms on your iPhone and turn off Wi-Fi or cellular data when sending a message to the contact.

The iMessage will not be delivered to the person, then all you have to do is to press hold on the sent iMessage and you will see an option that says Send as Text Message.

Tap on theSend as Text Message and immediately the iMessage will be sent as sms text message for that very contact.

You can scroll up and see the detailed tutorial along with photos as to what I’m talking about.

I mostly use this any time a sent iMessage is not delivered to the recipient and I’m desperate I’m need of the sent iMessage to get delivered to the recipient. I will assume that the recipient has no active internet connection and that’s why the sent iMessage wasn’t delivered, so therefore, sms text message will definitely reach the recipient iPhone.

One major issue I have with sms text message on iPhone is that there’s no delivery report for it (the green sms text message).
