On the next page or next screen you will see Share My Location as shown in the picture below.

- Share until end of day
- Share indefinitely
1.1. Share for one hour
If you select Share for one hour, it will share your location with the person for just an hour and immediately it reached the one hour time frame, location sharing with the contact will stop.
For example, you shared your location with Charles around 1pm in the afternoon, immediately it gets around 2pm, location sharing with Charles will stop immediately.
1.2. Share until end of day
This will share location until the time reaches 12am midnight.
Even if you start sharing location with someone around 11:52pm in the night, once it gets to 12am midnight location sharing will stop immediately.
1.3. Share indefinitely
This is the common used location sharing on iPhones or Apple devices, sharing location indefinitely.
This means that you will share your location with someone until you decide to stop sharing location with the person by tapping on the Stop Sharing Location button.
So you go ahead and select the option you preferred the most and immediately it will notify you on iMessage that you have started sharing location with the person.
On the person’s side, he or she will receive a notification about the location sharing and which the person can reciprocate by sharing location with you.
Afterwards, the two of you can see each others locations.
This requires you to open iMessage, tap on the person’s name at the top and it will display a map along with the person’s location.
You can tap on the map, select satellite to have a better view of the person’s current location.
This is the best method to start sharing location with someone on iPhone.
Remember, you can use the contact app to share location on iPhone and it only requires you to open the person’s contact information on your iPhone and you will see where it states Share My Location.
Tap on it and you have started sharing your location with the person.
Always make sure that the person reciprocate by sharing his or her location with you.
If you share your location with someone on your iPhone and the person didn’t do the same, you won’t be able to see the person’s location on your iPhone.
This is what is involved when it comes to sharing location on iPhone.
Noe let’s head over to the question of the day.
How to stop sharing location without them knowing on iMessage.
Like I said earlier, iMessage no longer notify someone if location sharing has been stopped.
However, the person might find out or will find out if he or she try to view your location on the Find My App.
How the person will find out!
If someone try to check your location on find my app and see Not Sharing Location, it is a strong indication that you have stopped sharing location with the person.
Below is a typical example of what I’m talking about.
Looking at the above picture, it states Not sharing location. Online.
This simply means that the Amy’s iPhone has an active internet connection but is no longer sharing location with me anymore.
If it only show Not sharing location, then it means that the person is no longer sharing location with me, and his phone has no internet connection.
As iMessage and iPhone in general no longer show or notify if someone stopped sharing their location, the means of knowing is by using Find my App.
Why Find My App is the best is because if the person goes on to disable Location Services on his phone, on Find my app it will still show Not sharing location.
THE SECOND METHOD USED TO FIND OUT
If you are sharing location with someone and the person is doing the same with you on his iPhone or any other apple device, you can view the person’s location on iMessage map.
Noe if upon checking the person’s location on iMessage map and you didn’t see any map, then it simply means that the person has stopped sharing location with you.
Kindly note that if someone stopped sharing location with you on iMessage, you will no longer see the iMessage map on the person’s contact profile.
Once this happens, it is a clear indication that the person has stopped sharing location with you on iMessage and iPhone in general.
Because of the fact that the person will know or find, and the reason why we have this post on how to stop sharing location without them knowing on iMessage, people tend to use the option to disable location services or share my location instead of stopping sharing location entirely.
Listen, if you disable location services for iMessage and entirely disable location services on your iPhone, if the other person try to check your location on iMessage map, what the person will see will be Location Not Available.
This will indicate that you have disabled location services on your device unless the other person doesn’t understand what Location Not Available means and why it shown on iMessage map.
These are the ways which the person will use to find out once you have stopped sharing location on iMessage.
Also, even if you turn off Share My Location feature on your iPhone, the person will still know as long as it shows Not Sharing Location, and there’s nothing you can do about it other than start sharing location with the person or enable location services and share my location on your iPhone or Apple device.
But know that the person won’t be notified that you have stopped sharing location with the person.
iMessage says I stopped sharing location
This usually occur if you block someone you are sharing location with on your iPhone.
Once you block the person on your iPhone, it will immediately and automatically stop sharing your location with the person.
This explains that once you block someone on your iPhone, location sharing with the person will stop.
However, you can see the person’s current location, but the person won’t be able to see your location.
Most times when you block someone y8on iPhone and which location sharing will stop automatically, the person might go ahead to block your right away.
And if the person blocked you, then you won’t be able to see the person’s location any more as this is how location sharing on iPhone or any other apple device work.
Asking how to turn off Find My iPhone without parents knowing, kindly note that there’s no working method at the moment because the person will still find out once it shows Not Sharing Location or Location not available.
This also relates with the question of how to stop sharing location without them knowing iPhone because if definitely the person will find out even though the person won’t get notified about it.
When you stop sharing location does it notify the other person iMessage?
The answer is no. Since the release of ios 15.6, iMessage no longer notify the other person when you stop sharing location with the person on your iPhone or Apple device.
However, the person will find out because iMessage map will no longer be available or show up if the person try to check your location on iMessage.
So without iMessage not notifying the person that you have stopped sharing location with the person, he or she will find out if they weren’t able to see your location on iMessage.
So if you stop sharing location with someone on your iPhone, definitely the person will know and it is pretty much easy.
And with this, I come to the conclusion of the of question of the day, how to stop sharing location without them knowing on iMessage.
