Quick guide on apple airtag

The Apple AirTag is a small round tracking device designed and manufactured by Apple, with the purpose of being used to help keep track of and locate valuable items, such as keys, bags, luggages, bike, pets, etc.

There are certain things that you should know when it comes to using the Apple airtag and they are as follows;

  1. Your iPhone must be on ios 14.5 and above.
  2. The AirTag can be paired to any iPhone or iPad on ios 14.5 update and above.
  3. However, the AirTag work perfectly on iphone 11 series and above, thanks to Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology and Precision Finding capability which is available from iphone 11 and above.
  4. You cannot use the Find Nearby feature on iPad, Mac or iphones below iphone 11 series and it is only available on iphone 11 series and above.
  5. The Find Nearby option allow you to track your airtag within bluetooth proximity, and it is very essential and helpful when traveling as you can use the option to locate your luggage.

The AirTag uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to communicate with nearby Apple devices, such mostly on iPhones, though quite available on iPad and Mac.

Additionally, it is equipped with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, which enables more precise localization when used with compatible devices (e.g., iPhone 11 or newer models).

To use the Apple AirTag, you must pair it with an Apple device, such as an iPhone or iPad, running the latest iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5 and above. This pairing process is done automatically or via the “Find My” app. Once paired, the AirTag is associated with your Apple ID.

One of the key features of AirTag is its integration with Apple’s “Find My” network.

When an AirTag is away from your Apple device, it leverages the network of nearly a billion Apple devices worldwide to anonymously communicate its location to you.

These devices include iPhones, iPads, and Macs. When a device running the Find My app comes into the proximity of your lost AirTag, it can securely relay its location back to you without the user of that device being aware of it.

If you have an iPhone 11 or newer model iphones that support the UWB, you can take a good advantage of the Precision Finding feature.

This feature allows your phone to communicate with the AirTag more accurately, guiding you to its location with on-screen instructions using augmented reality (AR) technology.

This is particularly helpful when you’re in close proximity to the AirTag and trying to pinpoint its exact location.

If you’ve misplaced an item with an AirTag attached, you can put the AirTag into Lost Mode through the Find My app.

You can set a contact phone number on the AirTag, and anyone who finds it can use their iPhone or another NFC-capable device to view the contact information and contact you.
