Why iMessage won’t deliver to one person? Here’s why

Why iMessage won’t deliver to one person on my iPhone or iPad, that’s the question of the day and which we’ll be looking at the reasons why you can’t seem to have your sent iMessage get delivered to a particular contact on your iPhone or iPad.

On iPhone, there are two method of sending messages and which includes the iMessage and the normal sms text message.

You can send iMessage on your iPhone or maybe send sms text messages. But mostly Apple users do prefer iMessage as it is a type of instant messaging service which you can send attachments, know when a sent message is delivered and read by the recipient.

It can be quite confusing when sending iMessages to your contact and you find out that iMessage doesn’t seem to get delivered to a particular contact on your iPhone.

And this is our main focus of the day;

Please Note: For the fact that iMessage is sending to all contacts on your iPhone or iPad except for a particular contact on your iPhone, the issue is not caused from you but rather the recipient.

But if iMessage is not sending to all contacts on your iPhone or iPad, then the problem is from your phone or your internet connection.

Why iMessage won't deliver to one person

Why iMessage won’t deliver to one person?

iMessage wont get delivered to one person on your iPhone because the person’s phone is switched off, has no internet connection or probably the person blocked you on his iMessage.

Looking at the above statement or explanation, you will find out that I didn’t give a specific reason as to why iMessage won’t deliver to one person because there are various reasons why such is happening to you.

From my own experience, I find out that if iMessage never says delivered especially on multiple occasions, it is because the recipient has blocked you on his or her message app. But you mustn’t conclude until you confirm it.

Below I have explained the reasons as to why iMessage won’t deliver to one person on your iPhone, iPad or any other Apple device.

1.1. iMessage is not available on the recipient phone

I know that many a time if iMessage doesn’t say delivered after sending a message on your iPhone, what you will conclude is that the recipient has blocked you.

But hey, that may not be the case.

Now listen, if iMessage is not available or active on a recipient iPhone or any Apple device, it won’t show delivered on your iPhone after sending an iMessage to the recipient.

iMessage not being available may be due to various reasons which are;

2.1. When the phone is switched off

There’s no way iMessage will sat delivered if a recipient phone is switched off unless the recipient phone is connected to other Apple devices and which they are active.

Maybe the reason why iMessage is not saying delivered to that very recipient is because the recipient iMessage is not available simply because the recipient apple device is switched off.

But if it is not switched off, then there’s another reason why such is happening, keep reading.

2.2. The recipient has no active internet connection

Being an instant messaging service, iMessage requires the iPhone, iPad, Mac or the Apple watch to have an active internet connection like the Wi-Fi or cellular data in order to send and to receive iMessages.

Now if the recipient iPhone or other apple device doesn’t have an active internet connection, it may be the reason why such is happening to you.

However, it is very weird for iMessage not to get delivered after sending iMessages on different occasions and multiple times.

But keep reading.

2.3. iMessage is disabled on the recipient iPhone

This is another reason that will prevent iMessage from being active in a given iPhone or any other Apple device, iMessage is disabled on the recipient device.

However, if iMessage is disabled on the recipient iPhone, sent iMessages may tends to turn green meaning sms text messages but only if you’re sending to a phone number and not an apple ID.

Even if you sent an iMessage to an apple id that was previously activated with iMessage, it will show Not delivered below the sent iMessage.

Thie is what I’m talking about.

Why iMessage won't deliver to one person

These are what will make iMessage not to be available on iPhone or any other Apple device and also prevent iMessage from getting delivered.

1.1. The recipient blocked you

The second and most common reason why iMessage won’t deliver to one person is because the person has blocked you on the message app.

This is very common and the major reason why iMessage never say delivered especially on different occasions and on multiple times.

You may have been blocked by the recipient.

Now the question is how do you find out if you have been blocked by the recipient on iMessage;

It is quite easy but also quite difficult.

However, if the recipient is sharing location with you, then it is very much easier, but if not then I have other methods for you.

Sending a couple of iMessages to someone which never says delivered even after several days and several iMessages, here’s what you should do but only if the recipient is sharing location with you.

3.1. By checking the recipient location on iMessage

All you have to do is to open the message app and open the conversation you had with the recipient.

Now tap on the recipient name at the top and it will open the recipient details. If it shows a map like the picture below, then it means the recipient didn’t block you on iMessage.

iMessage location

But if you opened the recipient details on the message app and you didn’t see any map below the call, video, mail and info tab, then it simply means that the recipient has indeed blocked you on iMessage.

Below is a typical example.

iMessage

You can go ahead and stop your your location with the person because you can’t view the person’s current location as you have been blocked by the person, but the person can still see your location.

What I’m trying to say is that if someone who is sharing location with you on iPhone blocked your number or Apple ID on it’s iPhone, automatically location sharing will be stopped and you won’t be able to see the person’s location.

So I use this method to find out if someone blocked me on iMessage but only if the person is sharing location with me.

3.2. Using another apple id or phone number to send an iMessage

For this very method, you have to get a new sim card with a different number and activate it with your iMessage.

Use the new phone number to send a message to the very contact on your iPhone and see if it will get delivered. Definitely it should unless the recipient iMessage is unavailable.

If you can’t get a new sim card or don’t fancy getting any, you can ask any friend of yours to send an iMessage to that very contact to see if it will get delivered.

From my experience, these are the reasons why iMessage won’t deliver to one person on your iPhone or iPad. In this type of situation, there’s nothing much you can do about it other than to use other means to contact the person.

You can sent a text message to the person using google voice, or try chat the person on whatsapp, Skype, Facebook messenger, telegram, or any other instant messaging apps the person has.

3.3. Call the phone number

On iPhone, if someone blocked you on iMessage or probably on the message app, it will generally block you on the person’s iPhone meaning that Calle won’t go through as well.

To confirm if someone blocked you on iMessage, dial the person’s number on your iPhone and see if the call will go through.

If the call goes through then it means the person’s haven’t blocked you on his iPhone, but if the call redirects you straight to voicemail or shows users busy then it means the person has blocked you on his iPhone.

To fully confirm this, kindly hide your number or caller ID and call the person though most iPhone users tends to enable Silence Unknown Callers feature on their iPhone.

Am I blocked if iMessage doesn’t say delivered?

You may not neccesarily be blocked if iMessage doesn’t say delivered because if iMessage is unavailable it won’t say delivered.

On the other hand, you may have been blocked by the recipient if your iMessages doesn’t get delivered after several sent iMessages on different occasions.

Like I said earlier, one of the reasons why iMessage doesn’t say delivered is not just because you have been blocked by the recipient but may iMessage is unavailable on the recipient phone.

Try to call the person and if you get redirected to voicemail or it shows user busy them you have been blocked by the recipient.

Do blocked iMessages turn green?

The answer is no. Blocked messages doesn’t turn green on iPhone but rather it simply means that iMessage is unavailable on the recipient phone.

The question is what causes iMessage to send as green text message?

  • The recipient disabled iMessage on it’s iPhone.
  • The recipient phone number is no longer activated with iMessage.
  • You’re sending messages to an android phone user or to someone using a feature phone.

If sending iMessages to another iPhone user turns green instead of blue, then it simply means that the recipient phone number is no longer activated with iMessage.

All you have to do is to give the recipient a call and request for the phone number or Apple ID he or she used for iMessage account.

And this is where I draw the curtain on the question of the day, why iMessage won’t deliver to one person. I’m open to your questions and suggestions.
