But sometimes, this shouldn’t worry you at all whenever you receive the AirTag detect near you notice because it might be a glitch.
Let’s jump into the topic of the day.

This is usually happen if the AirTag sound is removed, and which someone is using the AirTag to track your location. However, this may also be a glitch.
Whenever you receive an airtag detected near you message on your iPhone, it may be due to;
- You are being tracked by someone using an airtag.
- It may just be a glitch on find my app.
Now in the case of airtag detected near you but can’t find it, this is usually the case if the AirTag sound has been removed by the owner, and which the AirTag owner might be using the AirTag to track and see your location.
From what I’ve observed, people are now removing the AirTag sound when tracking someone or tracking an item. However, this might make it quite difficult locating the exact location of the AirTag as you can’t play the AirTag sound.
But before going into conclusion that you’re being tracked by an airtag, you need to take further steps just to be very sure or accurate that you have an airtag moving with you.
What to do next
Once you received an airtag detected near you or moving with you, it will display the movement on the map with a red tracking.
You need to take the following measures especially if you can’t find the AirTag;
1. Move to another location
I recommend you to move to another location and check if it will display on the map, and also if the AirTag is still moving with you.
If it no longer show airtag is moving with you and no longer display on the map, then you should bear in mind that the AirTag is not moving with you.
Maybe the AirTag happens to be at your location, and this may occur if someone lost his airtag. So you shouldn’t worry at all if the AirTag is no longer moving with you as it may be case of a lost airtag.
But if the AirTag is still moving with you, then you should know that someone is tracking you down using the Apple airtag.
Thie bring about the second measure you should take.
2. Use the Find Nearby option
Even if someone removed sound from an airtag making it quite difficult to locate the airtag, with the map on find my app and the Find Nearby option, you should be able to find the AirTag as long as the AirTag is truly detected near you.
All you have to do is to track the AirTag using the map on Find My app.
The AirTag location should display on the map, and using the map you can get to the AirTag exact location.
The second step to take is by using the the Find Nearby option, and this can helps to locate the AirTag without playing the AirTag sound.
Since you received a notification that an airtag is detected near you, then it simply means that it is within bluetooth proximity of an airtag, and this means the Find Nearby option will definitely work.
What you have to do is to use the Find Nearby option to locate the AirTag. So you go ahead and tap on Find Nearby as shown below.
When you tap on Find Nearby, it will help to direct you to the AirTag location. You have to follow the guideline careful and you should find the AirTag.

If truly you’re sure that someone is tracking you with an airtag and you can’t seem to find the AirTag, I recommend you to turn off Location Services and Share My Location on your iPhone.
Once you turned off location services and share my location on your iPhone, you cannot be tracked on Find My app.
To turn off location services on your iPhone, open the Settings app and scroll down to Privacy & Security.
Right there you will see Location Services at the top, tap on the option to open.
